WALTERS' GOLF FINISHES AS NATIONAL RUNNER-UP, THREE NAMED ALL AMERICAN

The Walters State golf team endured cold weather and drizzling rain in Plymouth (IN) as they went on the quest for a national title in the NJCAA Division II Championship at Swan lake Golf Resort.  They would fall a little short, but would finish as the runnerup in this year's tournament as champion South Mountain CC would blister the course the final day to win by 19 strokes.

Then Senators held the lead after the first two rounds of the tournament, only to see South Mountain go ahead by three strokes going into the final round.  The champs would outscore the Senators 279-295 in the final round to win the title.

The Senators did have three golfers awarded with All_American status.  Alex Hodge, who finished as the individual runnerup at -2, was named to the first team.  Alex Linkous, who carded a +9, finished 11th overall and was named to the 2nd team.  Dane Rheinecker tied for 24th with a +17 and was named honorable mention.  Hunter Blanken and Steven Owen also carded well for the Senators.  Blanken tied for 28th with a score of +18 while Owen finished +32 to tie for 72nd individually.

Cleveland State's Colbe Cagle had qulaified as an individual and finished +29 for the tournament for a tie at 62nd.
