The Motlow Bucks started out this year's tournament as the #2 seed, but ended it as #1 as they defeated Southwest Tennessee on Tuesday to secured the automatic bid to the NJCAA national torunament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Motlow will be making back to back trips to the national tournament. The Bucks stayed consistent, scoring 39 points in each on the way to a 78-61 victory.
Motlow secured their first win in the tournament as they defeated Columbia 92-61 in the quarterfinals on Saturday. They followed that with a hard fought 62-52 victory over Cleveland in Monday's second semifinal. Southwest Tennesee made their way through the tournament by defeating Jackson 90-59 on Saturday, and edging Walters 79-70 on Monday.
In their win over Columbia, Isaiah Hart led the team with 21 points, Kevonte Corley had 16, and Rashawn Fredericks had 10. In the win over Cleveland, Fredericks led with 17, Hart added a6, and Corley totals 11. In the champioship game, Hart led the squad with 19 points, Fredericks followed with 14, and Corley had 12.
Hart was named the MVP of the tournament for his contributions to the team's achievement.
