Southwest Tennessee's Jerry Nichols has accepted the opportunity to join Brian Collins as Tennessee State University as an assistant coach. He is Collins' first addition to his staff at TSU. He leaves Southwest Tennessee after five years as their head coach.
Nichols has nine year a a head coach in the TCCAA as he was the head coach at Motlow State for four years prior to arriving at Southwest Tennessee. In his nine years as a head coach in the conference, he has a 200-59 record combined at both Motlow and Southwest. He has earned five TCCAA Coach of the Year awards in that time.
He played at Westwood High School im Memphis before playing at Walters State for his first two years where he was a two time All American. He played collegiately his last two years at Arkansas State where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2006.
His frist coaching job was as an assistant at Walters State for one season before moving to Union College (KY) as an assistant where he earned his Master's Degree in 2009. He then mopved to Motlow State where he also serveas the Athletic Director during his time with the Bucks.
