WALTERS SOFTBALL FINISHES SEASON 41-13 AT NJCAA WORLD SERIES

Walters State went into the 2018 NJCAA Softball World Series with their heads held high.  After losing their first two games of the tournament, their heads were still head high as the 2018 TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Champions.  

The Lady Senator softball team found themsleves facing tough opponents in their first game in defending champs Butler Community College.  Butler jumped on them with eight runs in the first two innings, and never looked back in a 9-1 victory.  Walters managed only three hits in the game with Casey Gilbert, Lexi McDowell, and Tia Wilson each picking up a single hit.  Paige Calloway would score the lone run on McDowell's double in the third inning.

Dropping to the loser's bracket, the Lady Senators were matched against Three Rivers Community College.  Walters saw their opponents rattle of 10 runs in the last four innings to take a 12-4 win and eleiminate the Lady Senators.  Walters had nine hits in the game with Emily Whitaker having multiple hits with a single, double, and 2 RBIs.  Emma Seagrave and Gilbert drove in the other runs in the contest.
