WALTERS AND COLUMBIA SIT ATOP MEN'S STANDINGS THRU FIRST HALF
Through the first half of conference play, Walters and Columbia sit at the top of the standings with identical 9-1 conference records. Walters owns the edge at the halfway point of the conference schedule by virtue of an 87-59 win over Columbia earlier this month.
The Senators are ranked 18th in the latest NJCAA National Poll with 105 votes.
Chattanooga State sits right behind both teams with an 8-2 record with their two losses coming at the hands of the leaders. Roane State sits in fourth with a 7-3 record; all of their losses coming to the squads ahead of them.
Motlow State sits in fifth with a 6-4 record and gave Walters it's only loss on the season. Only two games seperate the bottom sixth teams with Volunteer holding down sixth with a 4-6 record.
At seventh and eighth are Cleveland and Pellissippi at 3-7 with Cleveland having defeated Pellissippi in the last week. Dyersburg, Jackson, and Southwest Tennessee each have 2-8 records.
The second half is scheduled to begin this weekend, but Mother Nature has issued a winter storm watch for the weekend forcing rescheduling of the games.
