PRICE RECOGNIZED FOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
Jay Price, Head Coach of the Chattanooga State men's basketball team was recognized recently for his induction into the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Price became a member back in November and joined Roane State president Dr. Chris Whaley as the class of 25-26 honorees. Presenting the awards were Dr. Foster Chason, TCCAA Hall of Fame member and former commissioner and Mike Campbell, current TCCAA commissioner. Also present were Joe Wingate, current Chattanooga State athletic director along with Tammy Swenson, former athletic director at Chattanooga State.
Jay Price began his basketball career at Brainerd High School in Chattanooga where he was the starting point guard and led his team to a state championship. Upon graduation, Jay played at the University of Tennessee- Knoxville and continued his career professionally oversees upon graduation. After retiring as a player, Jay coached the women's basketball team at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga and was the assistant coach for the men's team. In 2004, he was hired at Chattanooga State to coach the men's basketball team and coached both the men's and women's teams for ten years. He is the first head coach to take both teams to the NJCAA tournament in the same year. In 2024, Jay celebrated his twentieth season as Head Basketball Coach at Chattanooga State where he also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director. Under Coach Price's leadership, Chattanooga State has won four conference championships. Coach Price has been selected as the Coach of the Year five times and has been inducted into several Halls of Fame. Aside from coaching, he continues to contribute to the game through fundraising, mentorship, and propelling his student-athletes to four-year institutions, which he considers his proudest accomplishment.
