The Walters State men's basketball saw their season come to an end in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division I Men's National Championship as they fell to the #2 see Souther Idaho by and 85-64 final. The Senators end the season with an overall record of 32-2.
The first half saw a back and forth game until Southern Idaho pulled away late in the first half to lead 38-32 at the break. They would expand the lead to 14 at 46-32 as the Senators would not score in the first four minutes of the half. Walters would connect on 23 of 52 shots (44.2%) from the field. They hit on 6 of 17 (35.3%) from behind the three-point line, and hit only 12 of 21 shots (57.1%) from the free throw line.
Three Senators hit for double figures led by Taquez Butler with 14 points. Da'Mori Lytch and Brian Carter both finished with 13 points. Malaki Brooks hit for eight and Carter Webb had seven points.
Lytch led the team with 11 rebounds; Butler had six and Carter four in the contest. Lytch also led the team with three assists and had the the only steal for the Senators. Webb had two assists in the game.
