The Chatt State softball team went undefeated this week to win the 2024 TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII/Applachian District Championship as they defeated Dyersburg State in the final, 9-0. With the win, the Lady Tigers advance to the NJCAA Division I Softball World Series which is set to begin on May 20 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama. They will learn their seed for the tournament next week.
Chattanooga broke through for two runs inb the bottom of the first when a groundout plated both Chloee Fryar and Briley Burns. That would be all the runs starting pitcher Emily Marks would need as she went all seven innings for the win. She would surrender three hits and one walk in the game while striking ou eight Lady Eagle hitters.
The Lady Tigers would put six runs up in the bottom of the fifth to help salt the game away which was highlighted by a three run home run by Caydara Parker. Parker's performance throughout the tournament earned her the Most Valuable Player Award for the event.
