LADY SENATORS ADVANCE WITH WIN IN SECOND ROUND 73-63

The Lady Senators won their game in the Round of 16 in the NJCAA Women's Division I National Championship.  They defeated State Fair by a 73-63 score.  It improved their overall record to 28-2.  They advance to play New Mexico Junior College today at 11am EDT.

The Lady Senators used strong runs in the second and third quarters as they outscored their opponents 41 to 28 in those two quarters.  Walters was 25 of 77 (32.5%) from the field which included hitting on 3 of 9 (33.3%) from three-point range.  They were 20 of 32 (62.5%) from the free throw line.

Terryauna Griffin led the team with 29 points.  Nyjah Gibbs was the only other Lady Senator to reach double figures with 14 points.  Malon Smith added eight points and Reagan Starks had six in the game. 

Starks led the squad with nine rebounds.  Gibbs finished with eight caroms while Tierra Coleman finished with six boards.  Smith led the team with eight assists and seven steals.  Griffin finshed the game with four steals and Gibbs contributed two in the game. 

Newq Mexico comes in to the game as the #16 seed.  They defeated #1 seed Butler in the round of 16, 82-79.  They recieved an at large bid as a representative of NJCAA Region V.
