Volleyball All Conference and Special Awards Named By TCCAA

The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association announced its All-TCCAA teams and Special Award Winners on Friday.

Chattanooga State's Ava Higgins was named the 2025 TCCAA Player of the Year, while Cleveland State's Piper Bowers was named the 2025 TCCAA Freshman of the Year. Cleveland State's Peyton and Nolan McDaniel were named 2025 TCCAA Coaches of the Year.  

Higgins was awarded Player of the Year after leading the conference in most attacking stats. Higgins totalled 327 kills on the season and averaged 3.80 kills per set. Higgins finished second in the conference in points with 363 and third in points per set at 4.2. She also had 38 total blocks on the season, 255 digs and a hitting percentage of .295. 

The Freshman of the Year, Bowers was the primary setter for Cleveland State. Bowers finished the regular season with 571 assists, 7.93 assists per set and 44 service aces. Bowers also had 238 digs. She was second in the conference in assists per set, fourth in assists and fourth in service aces. 

Peyton and Nolan McDaniel were named TCCAA Coaches of the Year after an extraordinary season at Cleveland State. The Cougars finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record in TCCAA play, a 21-2 record overall and won the TCCAA Regular Season Title for the first time in program history. Cleveland State did all of this with head coach Peyton McDaniel serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in Iraq. Nolan McDaniel took over the in-person coaching duties, while Peyton still met with her team during the season through FaceTime and Google Meet. 

Named to the All-TCCAA First Team were Chattanooga State's Higgins and Quincie Hrinik, Cleveland State's Aaliyah Rodgers, Bowers and Isabella Messer, Jackson State's Teagan Reed and Mattie Hopper, Pellissippi State's Grayson Jones and Devyn Dunn and Walters State's Veda Barton and Annah Cate Hyatt.

 

         

 

Making the All-TCCAA Second Team were Chattanooga State's Sydney Smith, Katelyn Anderson and Baileigh Seale, Cleveland State's Zowee Dillard and Kennedy Caudill, Jackson State's Emily Papple, Pellissippi State's Savanna Anderson, Roane State's McKenna Cameron and Jaylynn Bullock and Walters State's Davanie Tarleton.
