TOP SEEDS ADVANCE IN VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

On  the first day of the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Volleyball Tournament, the top seeds advanced on the first day.  Walters defeated Jackson 3-1 in the closest matchup of the day.  Chattanooga followed with a 3-0 win over Dyersburg.  In the final match of the day, Pellissippi defeated Roane 3-0.  Walters now faces top Cleveland in one semi while Pellissippi and Chattanooga will face off in the other swemifinal on Friday.

WALTERS 3 - JACKSON 1

Walters advanced with a hard fought 3-1 win over Jackson.  The teams split the first two sets with the Senators winning the first set 25-213 before the Generals took the second set 28-26.  Walters would take the next two sets by scores of 25-17 & 25-19.

Veda Barton led Walters with 17 kills.  Davanie Tarleton was next with 13 and Preslee Quertermous finished with nine.  Annah Cate Hyatt finished with 42 assists.  Barton had three service aces while Hyatt had two in the contest.Barton led the team with 19 digs.  She was followed by Lilabeth Jordan had 15 and Hyatt finished with ten on the day.

Jackson was led by CharliButts with 13 kills.  Teagan Reed finished with 13 and Kalli Maclin had ten.  Chloe Williams had 22 assists and Joslynn Younmg had 15.  Butts had four aces on serve while Reed finished with two for the day.  Williams and Young both had 13 digs while Reed and Emily Papple each finished with eleven.

CHATTANOOGA 3 - DYERSBURG 0  

Chattanooga won easily over Dyersburg with scores of 25-10, 25-17, & 25-11.  Dyersburg held a four point lead in the second set, but were outscored 14-2 the rest of the way.

Ava Higgins led the Tigers with 16 kills.  Sydney Smith had 13 and Brookl;yn Kasuba had 12 in the win.  Bailiegh Seale had 31 assists with Chloe Gibson finishing with ten.  Fwehnly Sneed finished with two service aces.  Katelyn Anderson and Shiloh Sheeks each had nine digs to lead the way.  Higgins finshed with eight and Seale finished the match with seven.

Christiana Carter led the way for the Eagles with eight kills.  Kennedy Owen had three and Hannah Ray had two in the mtch.  Kaylee England had 12 assists in the contest.  Addison Flowers had two aces.  England finshed with 11 digs and Aubrey Massengill finshed with ten.

PELLISSIPPI 3 - ROANE 0

 The Panthers defeated the Raiders by set scores of 25-15, 25-14, & 25-14.  Pellissippi 2would use rallies in each set to pull away in the win.

Pellkissippi was led by Yevdokiya Gluschenko with 14 kills in the match.  Natalie Knight had eight while Miley Pressnell, Emma Kate Pierce, and Savanna Anderson each had seven in the contest.  Devyn Dunn led with 40 assists.  Grayson Jones had two aces to lead the squad.  Jones had 16 digs with Dunn right behinbd with 14.  Addison Dietz had 12 digs and Morgan Brown had ten on the night.  

Madyson Bethea had seven kills to lead the Raiders/  McKenna Cameron was tops with 17 assists. Bethea and Cameron led witrh 12 digs and were followed by Jaylynn Bullock with 11 for the day.
